Israel threatens attacks in Gaza over children’s kites

Israel threatened retaliatory strikes against Gaza over the flying of kites, prompting the US-led Gaza peace board to warn Hamas to halt the activity on Tuesday. The Straits Times reports Israel characterized kite-flying as a tactic of launching incendiary kites over the border, while parents were urged to stop children from flying them. Al Jazeera reported that Israel threatened intensified attacks and forced displacement in response to the kites, and documented a Gaza child breaking down in tears over the Israeli threat.
